The owner is self-motivated in professional development through continuous education and exhibits leadership and verbal abilities through job coaching and initiating individualized programs for the disabled disadvantaged. She leads by example and sets the tone for how the individuals in her program are treated. Her patience and calming, positive attitude have led to numerous successes with individuals who were thought of as “unable” to thrive in a community setting.
Program Overview
A positive and comfortable environment is what makes a house a home. In our group home, individuals become active, decisive participants in small households of one to four people. They benefit from the 24-hour support of our compassionate staff providers and the home is located in a residential neighborhood. Our residential program helps individuals integrate and be part of their community. Our home is fully licensed through the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS).
About Group Homes
Group Homes offer the most supervision and structure of any of the residential services offered by DBHDS. Occupancy is limited to a maximum of four residents and is supervised 24 hours a day. In some situations, more than one staff is on duty to provide supervision and assistance. Staff assists the residents with daily living skills such as proper hygiene, appropriate social interaction, home care, money management, and recreation. Individual program plans are developed with the participation of the resident and family or guardian.
Benefits of Group Homes
Individuals will have the opportunity to live in a home and be active members of their community. They will be afforded the chance to have the “Every Day Life” experienced by other people.
